At Msit No'kmaq, we work with all three major, reputable DNA service providers. Each provider has its strengths and weaknesses, and which one we recommend depends upon what specific services you require.

For general DNA tracing of your ancestral roots, for ethnic assessments and for general connections with your roots, we recommend having your DNA tested with Ancestry.ca. This is because Ancestry is the provider with the largest client base, and your chances of connecting with your close family is greater.

If your interests are primarily related to health questions -- what are my chances of contracting cancer, or other diseases, for instance -- then we recommend 23andMe.com.

FamilyTreeDNA is a third option, one that has been used successfully by many clients seeking their roots.
